Default early '28 AR body/frame

My Phaeton driver side floor railing has an oval shape hole for the early E-brake handle, was this normal for all '28 cars or are there records of when this was eliminated ??

I can post a pic later thanks!

My August 28 Special Coupe also has it with a cover over the hole.. I have seen still later 28 cars with it.

My October 12th 1928 60-A Leatherback Fordor has the hole and still has the earlier 3 piece service brake assembly.

NO...it is not on all 1928 models, especially the later 1928 bodies. Remember, Ford used up every part he could, even when there was a changeover such as this. It is essentially the same cowl section as the next generation except for the hole for the left-hand emergency brake for which FORD put a plate over such hole when they went to the E-brake which was attached to the gearshift housing. Later 1928 bodies, if the new cowl section was in play, did not have the hole.

You can key out your body with the NEW MARC/MAFCA Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards!

Steve,
Talking about the left hand e-brake hole, I have 2 with the right hand holes that
also has the left hand holes. Also the wood that fits in that section HAD to be
different, to clear the handle.

My 6/1/28 tudor has that hole. It had a sheetmetal cover fastened with screws, I suppose to keep water and dirt from getting in.

Here is the plate on my 9-27-28 Phaeton. Notice that at least one of the two plate screws appears to be the wrong one. That should not be a flat head screw on the lower one.

Speaking of emergency brake holes, how many of you have a vehicle that has the tab on the outside of the hole? This was not a common feature on the early A's but it was not that uncommon either. This particular photo is a barn find photo of the body for A217.
