Default 1933 Ford Mechanic in Southeastern NYS

Are there any professional flathead mechanics located near Poughkeepsie, NY? I would like to replace my distributor with a newly rebuilt one. I am handy and like to do as much as I can myself, but this job has me thinking twice. Are there any repair books on this? I know that the points & rotor are over 20 years old and are probably shot.

The address of the Hudson Valley Chapter of the V-8 Club of America is in Poughkeepsie, NY. The contact info is George Siegnist and he can be reached at, gesiegrist2optonline.net. I am sure he can put you in contact with someone that can help you. Also, I would recommend joining the V-8 Club of America.

The distributor is specifically designed to be easily replaceable, as it was never intended to be worked on in situ.

If you are handy you should be able to replace your old unit with a rebuilt one, especially if it has been rebuilt by one of the barners that do that stuff and had been set up and tested on a machine.

Mart.

Mart: Thanks for the lesson in Latin. I learned a new word "situ".

There is a garage in East Schodack, NY about 70 miles from you. He repairs all old Fords. www.godevilgarage.com

Do it yourself, join the local EFV8 group and get one of the guys to watch over you as you do the swap. You'll appreciate your car and owning it even more.
