Re: scum
He has so far on this forum but the number of subscribers is growing. The HAMB has so many more subscribers that it is imperative to police these rules. If nothing else to save valuable space in the system.

Re: scum
Hoop, who's recommended protocol or rules do we follow? Yours or Ryan's?
The rules clearly posted on the swap site, both "For Sale" and "Wanted" sections are: You may post new threads You may post replies You may post attachments You may edit your posts Eliminating the reply feature "may" be difficult with the software or it "may" not be. Why not let the folks who run this website make those decision. Declaring the discussion over .... ?

Re: scum
those are general posting rules, that are on every page. Generally you do not post a reply toa classified add, pm the original poster and go from there.
The idea is not to jumble the add with a bunch of unneeded info, keeps it plain and simple so that the next guy that reads or is interested only has to read the first post. much like farting in church,, you MAY but its not recommended, especially on a wooden pew, it works like an amplifier. |

PS Addendum added 5/28/11.......Let's stop posting on this original message and let it sink to the bottom of the list which is probably where it belongs. TIA

Re: scum
i like replying on the ad because it gives others looking for parts an opportunity to buy or sell if the initial person don't respond or doesn't want or need the part. i can see where this could be a problem, maybe if the site goes extra large it can be dealt with properly. right now may reply to me means i can reply.

Re: scum
"The system seems to be working well now except for some habitual complainers/whiners. Maybe they will complain to Ryan again and he will add another sticky message."
Let's start calling each other names. "Habitual complainers/whiners" means I once objected to this forum becoming home to street-rodders discussing SBC's, SBF's, etc. I copied direct quotes from Ryan about the intent he had for Ford Barn. It was not my opinion or an attempt to make rules. (I was actually told by street-rodders that I should leave the forum if I didn't like it.) The nice thing about our current software is that we can review each others previous posts. I don't see anything that makes me a "habitual complainer/whiner" in my past posts. Check for yourself. "The system seems to be working well" ignores the fact that this thread was started by one guy calling another "scum" for what he perceived to be a snaking of his deal. I offered advice, not rules, to avoid this. I dislike having to defend myself but characterizing me a a habitual complainer simply is not true. And, I have never called anyone any names and would appreciate the same from others. If you have some private issue with me or my views ... send me a PM.

Re: scum
I would think Ryans opinion is the one that counts . Silence speaks loudly in some situations and until told by him to stop I will continue to occasionally post stuff on ads . I have helped others and been helped by others BECAUSE of the ability to discuss whats & whys in ads . Whats the big deal anyway ? David J ADDING , After reading Hoops post above and now understanding what started this I will cast a vote for closing or deleting this thread as I can see no good coming from it .

Re: scum
I had no idea thay you were not supposed to reply to them. Most of the time I PM a person that replies to my add. As long as you are subscribed to your add you can see when they reply it without having to check the add every day. Either way works for me. Rod

Re: scum
Who cares? It's Ryan's site. He's fair, let him enforce the rules as he sees fit.
Stop beating each other up over stupid crap, go for a cruise and enjoy the day. Life's too short to be kicking each other friends. |
