Default drag link question

Gettting ready to install my drag link to try and get my car ready for a parade this weekend. I think the link is a reproduction one. In the bottom of the link there is a little nub as I'll call it sticking up in the bottom of each end. Maybe was there when the thing was made. Is the bottom inside of the link suppose to be smooth or is this nub suppose to be there. I would think not based on the assembly according to Les Andrews book for the pitman end, the cup goes in first then another cup then the spring and end cap. So I would think the first cup would be sitting in there like a plate balancing in the end of a pole. The other end of the drag link to the spindle would be ok cause the spring goes in first and wouldn't hit the nub. I bought an original drag link from a guy but haven't received it yet. Not sure what the hold up is on his end so can't compare the two and need to get the car ready for the weekend with this drag link if possible. Thanks
