What model and year ford did this come off of? I can't make out the part # on the back. Thanks Mike

Looks similar to a 38 hood latch.

It's not for a 38 standard or deluxe, I'm thinking a Ford truck? The radius is wrong for a 38 for standard hood. Mike

Not '39 p/u and I don't think its from a '38 p/u either but I'm not positive.

Not a 38 nor 39 truck.

See attached. Only difference with the 38-39 truck is there is no space below the handle on a 39.

Nope. Not a '38 standard. The '38 standard had the Ford emblem that snapped in place. This has the Ford script cast in place.

May have spoke too soon. Was thinking of the "60" - "85" emblem.

Gary is right. The 38 standard has the ceramic Ford script and the 85 is also a ceramic button. Still trying to identify. This thing is cast.

Agree that possibly aftermarket considering that a PN is not decipherable.

The #'s I can make out look like 81-a8218-a. There's a lot of interpolation there. I hope that might help. Thanks for any help.

81A-8218A is the 1938 standard part #. Suspect foreign made after- market. That would explain the bad replication.

I'm surprised that they made a replica for the Standard 38, it was a one year car. There weren't that many made. But it's the only thing that makes sense. Mike

Fairly easily to cast a low quality part using the original as a mold model.
