Default Help with shocks

When I bought my 30 coupe it did not have front shocks on it. He gave them to me but they are frozen. I do have a spare set that I got with my 30 Fordor. I was told that they work good. They are marked Ford, Chicago, Ill. My question is since they aren't marked Left-Right how do I know which way to put the levers on? They seem really stiff in both directions.

Simply put, the arms have a bolt that locks the arm onto the stator shaft of the shock. That shaft has a notch that corresponds to the bolt so that part is self-explanatory. If those repro shocks are as they were manufactured, the oil fill plug will go to the top. That should get you started.

The shocks should be marked with an AC or CW .. The CWs are mounted right front/left rear.. AC left front/right rear.. Just take a wrench and see how freely/stiffly the shaft moves..

Patrick, mine aren't marked CW or AC. That's why I wasn't sure. They aren't genuine Ford, they are aftermarket.
