Question Model A Points/Condenser Made Where?

Are any points being made in the USA today or are they all imports? Are any of them better than others? Would an old set of domestic points be serviceable for use if the contacts are dressed down with a file until clean?

Believe it or not, you can get points at NAPA. They are the ones that I like best. They may not have them in stock, but can usually get them in 24 hours.

As for condensers, I just get the burn-out proof ones from Bratton's.

You should always carry spares of both. I always carry two full sets...along with extra screws. Those buggers are small and easy to drop.

I like the "burn out proof" condenser from A&L, no problems with it and I get it hot, have 25 years of abuse on the same one, am still using the old usa points that were on the car when I got it(40+ years) ---I don't use a file, either a point surfacing stone, or diamond sharpening slip like for a pocket knife --on the car I will take the screwthread moveable contact out to surface it and do the point arm in place.

I think that many change their points too soon----just as the rubbing block wears in.

I bought several points sets from Jim Sinclair at the national meet in Oshkosh this past June. These are the best I've seen and look like NOS Model A points. I don't have Jim's phone number, but he had several sets.

We have Points made by Ford Motocraft (mexico) and a few sets of NOS Ford ones...They are USA made.

We have Ford Motocraft Condensors and A&L USA made Condensors.
