Default Fuel adjustment body ring removal ??

Hi:

I'm curious why in Les Andrews red book he mentions to make sure you remove the ring at the bottom of the fuel adjustment body before installing it in the carburetor. It doesn't seem to interfere with anything. What is the reason why this should be done?

I found my answer on this forum.I will leave the ring in place to keep the GAV from "walking" . Love the terminology. I'll deal with an adjustment down the road if there's an issue.

He must think it makes the GAV too hard to turn. Mine is all stock and turns easily, and stays where I put it. I wouldn't remove the wire ring. Put a drop of oil on the GAV when you first install it to make the needle easier to slip into place.
