Default Our first long trip. Video

I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting this video link here. If I am then I am sorry in advance.

We just finished the main work on our 1929 Model A.

When we got it it was already wonderful, but needed some work because it did not perform at all well.

I posted here looking for help fixing it and you guys were great.

It had a bad carburetor because someone had stripped the threads on a main jet and tried to glue it back in. The car leaked gas from the carburetor a lot and run pretty bad, and sometimes backfired so hard it actually below up the muffler.

We spent time learning about Model A carburetors and eventually even made our own jets and tested different ones back to back.

We also fixed the timing, etc.

All along we have been busy building a new garage for our immerging car collection, and also a great garden so we are stretched for time, but still trying to get work done on the cars.

So we finally got to take the Model A on a long drive, she still needs some work, but boy was it fun.

If it interests you here is the link to the YouTube video.

Cheers
Paul

Thanks to all you guys, we come here a lot to get info etc, but don't post much because we have so little to contribute, but I am happy you enjoyed the video.

This is a great place.

Thank you for sharing your video. Both the car and the countryside are beautiful. I must say both your driveway and the adjacent road look pretty scary. You certainly gave both the service brakes and the emergency brake a good test!! I hope you enjoy your car for many years to come. I was in your shoes when I first drove my restored 1930 Town Sedan in October, 1964. Ed

Thanks,
I love my driveway, and my mountain, my neighbors are coyotes, bears and other wild life, perfect

The Model A feels like it was made for these roads, it loves it.

Wow 1964, I was not even a US citizen then, just a kid hoping to stay alive in a shitwhole country. America adopted me and now I own a piece of its history, go figure life...

I started a car collection, but so far Mrs. Ahooooga is the car I drive the most.

Ed I hope you enjoy your car for many years to come also.

Cheers
Paul

Scary video. Everybody is driving on the wrong side of the road but I enjoyed it anyway.
If I might make one suggestion, don't hurry the gear changes so much when changing up. Either don't rev the engine so high or slip it into neutral, wait a short time, then engage the higher gear. Practice will make perfect.
About 10 years ago, I bought a Model A out of Arizona and when the seller visited us a while later, naturally, I took him for a drive in the car. When we returned, he said that he hadn't noticed me changing gears but I always seemed to be in the right one. It can be done that smoothly and quietly.

Thank you, I have old habits, I used to race formula atlantics and F2000 Pro, both very fast open wheel racecars.

In those days (back before the computers and the paddles) you never, ever, touched the clutch once you leave the pits. Your hand had to be very fast to move from the steering wheel, push the shifter into the next gear without ANY RPM drop, and back. If you moved at all slow everything went wrong. It only took a couple of 100's of a second to shift.

I have to learn to slow down with Mrs. AHOOOGA.

Cheers

I understand. These cars are a whole different driving experience and like to do things at THEIR speed, THEIR way.
