Default Same scammer on the prowl.

This is the second time he has tried to scam me. This time he used the email address of [email protected] Before it was [email protected]
He must be as thick as a brick. Obviously of extremely low intelligence.
Be on your guard folks.

IMO, it's just a numbers game to them. They know most people will not fall for their rubbish but a few do and that keeps them coming back. It's warnings like this that may make it unviable for them - here at least.

I have a question, how has he/she tried to scam you?

Sorry, I just don't understand this.

I have also had a number of responses from someone that says "carpart***@yahoo.com has the part you are looking for. I just ignore the posts and hope for a real seller to answer my ad.

Yeah that can be a waste of time.

Thanks, J

They troll want to buy ads EVERYWHERE, I got scammed for $300 bucks from a WTB ad I placed on the MAFCA website, of all places. I learned my lesson (in fact that same M*T*E*F*C*ER Tried to get get me again, from another WTB ad I posted. The reality is that in the US common business practice is for the buyer to pay up before the seller ships. I know what I did wrong I don't need to hear what a dumb azz I am. I'm posting this here so that hopefully you can learn from my mistake.

28, no your far from a dumb azz.

All you did was to follow through with the sale. How could you possibly know that it was a scumbucket on the other end.

Fellas here's what I do. Was scammed many years ago for $8K so now super careful.

As other's have stated many of these scams come from wanted ads.

1) Request a live FB chat with the seller and part. If you dont have FB chat etc get a kid/grand kid. Ask them to show some ID at that time.

2) If they are responding via FB check how old the profile is, look at the pics are their car pics etc (often profiles get hacked)

3) If they are responding via here check their profile including posts. If none....

4) NEVER EVER use paypal 'Friends and Family'.

If they wont do any of the above walk away straight away.

You do have to be careful, you cannot even go to a gas station without the risk.
My Wife's card just got hit for $1500 yesterday. She purchased gas on Sunday, they don't waste any time.

I didn't understand the title or first post without some context, now it makes sense.

I was involved with an FBI investigation a few years ago, on a pricey car purchase. As the scammer tried to change bank account numbers every 15 minutes or so, I was able to forward to FBI in almost real time. After about an hour the requests just stopped, don't know the outcome other than I didn't lose anything.

Be careful and remember that PayPal charges for a reason, cheapest insurance ever.

John

No recourse if seller doesn't come through with the parts. If you use PayPal for a purchase with the associated fee PayPal will refund your money (in most cases) if the seller doesn't send you the parts. I have used friends and family for parts when I was absolutely certain that the seller was legit but when I'm buying something site unseen from someone I don't know its never friends and family.
