Default Transmission and brake boots

Hey, Fordbarners,
Did the Model A originally have a rubber boot on the floorboard around the gearshift lever and the emergency brake lever? I have these boots on my '30 town sedan but when putting in new carpet I wasn't sure if the boots go under the carpet or over it. I friend told me that the boots are an aftermarket item and the original "A" didn't have any boots. What do you say?

I don't have it in front of me, but that should be answered in the judging standards.

Thanks to all. My car is not up to judging standards, but I want it to look right
