Default 1941 Shocks, Early/Late?

In the Pre-War "Chassis Book" shocks seem to be listed as 40-1 and 41 for those years, with 01A then 11A respectively. Being ass deep in 01A parts, would be pleased to use those, if needed on a 11A. As soon as the ground dries out, I may crawl under 11A to ID the shocks and also read the rear gear stamping for good measure. Thanks: Fred A

PS: As a big user of original Houdailles, the shocks for a '40 are in good supply at local swap meets, and I'm getting better at finding promising cores. If only the links were as easy.

Fred,
It seems to me the center-to-center distance on a '41 shock is a bit wider than a '40.
Also, '40 shocks have smaller diameter bodies than '41 shocks; about 3/8" smaller diameter.
I'm certain the arms ('41) are also different than '40.
I do not believe they ('40) are a direct replacement for '41.
Links come up for sale fairly often. I'd check with Michael Driskell if I were in need.
1941 was a bit odd in that front links were 4 3/4" long while the rear links were 4" long.
Correct '40 shocks, especially rear shocks are quite rare.

Fred the different part numbers may be the fact the '40 shocks were also used on the '41 pickups. The '41 pickup used the '40 frame and running gear.

As TJ pointed out, the '41 pickup is just a '40 with engine options, therefore just explains my making a mystery where there is an answer. lying on my back under the '41, the larger shocks were not noticed. Thought I really had something.
The declared rarity of the rear shocks for the 01A may trigger my hoarder gene (scientific proof exists). I found more fine rears after I put work into some lesser candidates, but they are all lefts. Thanks: Fred A
