50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
Installed H10c spark plugs a few years ago and have a fouling problem.
Need recommendations regarding best plugs to use for 50 flathead that is used on a limited basis. Thanks |

Re: 50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
I use Champion RJ14YC spark plugs. They have a long snout that resists fouling. I know that many consider Champion to be undesirable, but I have used them for decades. I set the gap at .028. If the fouling is fluffy black, that usually indicates an over rich fuel condition. H-10 plugs have a long history of fouling.

Another easily correctable cause is starting the car for 2 minutes to "circulate the fluids". |

Re: 50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
Check any new Autolite plugs when you buy them. There is a thread on the H.A.M.B. about the manufacturing now being done "offshore" and the quality has gone to hell.

Re: 50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
Let’s get to the root cause of your problem. Even a perfect plug will foul when your running too rich, has improper timing, poor spark, bad rings or improperly seated valves.
Let’s see a picture of one of these fouled plugs?? |

Re: 50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
I use Autolite 216 in a stock ‘50 and have had two where the electrode pulled right out of the plug. I agree with the other posters that think you have another problem to cause fouling. Plugs won’t foul from lack of use...... Mark

Re: 50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
If you are experiencing plug fouling, resist placing MMO or any other additive to your fuel tank or crankcase. Performance improvement is very rarely obtained from a bottle or can.

Re: 50 Ford 8ba spark plug fouling problem
I just had a similar situation. Limited use , fuel evaporates but the MMO doesn't . Drove to the show smoking a bit , filled the tank , smoking was gone . Then I remembered adding 8 oz of MMO to 1/4 tank and I forgot to fill up last time .
