Default New to Ford Barn, '28 A "Special Coupe" inherited.

Good evening folks.

Been on here reading for a few hours. Very nice forum you have here. A lot of very knowledgeable people here. Glad I found it.

My Wife, unfortunately, has recently inherited a nice '28 A "Special Coupe"

Her Dad had been restoring it. And her brother has it running.

We are going to continue the restoration of this vehicle.

We are excited to have this car.

You folks will be hearing from me a lot, if you can handle it!!!

Here is a picture we took just before a parade last year. First time it was on the road since I don't know when.

Her Father also has been restoring:
1919 Model T (Not sure of style)
1926 Model T Roadster
1928 Model A pickup

Thanks for being here.

Sean

Thanks, looking forward to having the car here. We have already started looking at original colors. The Coupe is painted three different lower body colors. So, when we get it here, we will try to determine a few things. Like original color, build date for motor and body.

So, this is going to be fun!

It looks like a good starting point. I'd drive it as is before I started tearing it apart. Get all the mechanicals in shape & enjoy it. Be sure to check the drivers side of fuel tank/firewall about a inch above for the fuel tank date code if one was stamped there.

It is never good news when someone inherits anything.

With condolences said, we are here to help and as a group there is nothing we cannot handle!

My advise is always try to find a club to join.

For a small fee you get knowledge, assistance, and the use of speciality tools right there at your car!

To both, Mike V. Florida and Racur96.

Thank you for your input. The Family Memorial, Mom passed a little over a year ago, and Dad passed on Sunday, we are going to have all the cars in a parade in Miles City Montana in May. They will be riding with us. For a couple that reached a month or two short of 60 years of marriage. we will be honored, and so will they.

After seeing the projects I have seen here on the Ford Barn, and the years spent on those, we are looking forward to being involved with which ever club we join.

We are already talking about how to travel with a '28 when we go see the country 3 years from now.

As for my Wife and I, we live on projects. This will be a project that will, more than likely, define what we do in retirement. (Which isn't very far away)

Sean

Welcome aboard! I too have a 28 special and it's still my favorite ride. My wife and I have been all over with it and find it quite comfy and reliable. Do a few parades if you will, to show her off but by all means, keep those tires turning toward new adventures. The Model A's love to run in exchange for fun!

Sean, Welcome aboard, we are pretty new as well.

It is such a blast owning an A, and the folks here area huge help. We too will be retiring soon, and moving to Bend, so you have one not too far destination already......... There has got to be some sort of tour up the Gorge for A's as well.

Welcome aboard and you have come to the right place ! There is nothing about your A that these people can't answer ! A few grumps but you will soon learn who they are and ignore them like everyone else !
I agree with the suggestion to enjoy it first the way it is !
Just remember it does not have tobe perfect to have fun !

Well, it is a small world. We will also be retiring in Bend!

We can't wait to get back there, and Bend will be a great place to have an A to drive around in.

We will be seeing you around for sure!

The Northwest Regional Round Up is what you are looking for on the web. It can be found from the MAFCA site or either Volcano A's (I think that is the Vancouver site) or the Beaver chapter websites. I know there is a Bend chapter as well-I think. And to top it off, Bill Barlow rebuilds engines in Bend and does a great job!

Mike

p.s. Welcome to the club

Thanks!!! That looks like fun.

Seeing all the pictures makes me home sick!!!

Well, I will be seeing what the car needs to make it road worthy for a trip over.

Will need to do more digging on the local groups in my current area.

Welcome. I encourage you to join at least one local club. In Vancouver it's the Volcano A's (volcanoas.net/). In Portland it's the Beaver Chapter of MAFCA (http://beaverchapter.shutterfly.com) or (http://www.beaverchapter.com/). When you get to Bend, you'll want to look up the High Desert A's. Also join one of the national clubs. There is a wealth of fun, information, advice and help in participation in these organizations.
