Default Model A coupe after a 20 year sleep - Video added -

I've been a member of the Jalopy Journal for a few years. Learned alot here and bought some much needed parts for my dads 33 truck years ago.

So the economy has a few things seeing the light of day.

This was a sometime hotrod, start/stop/start project from back when.
"Reported" to have some vintage speed parts, zepher intake, polished aluminum bellhousing, polished lower front cover, etc..

Previous owner said the motor came out of a vintage speed boat (hmmmm well ok interesting) and drove it around in this configuration for a few years before starting on the body. I don't know anything much about Model A banger motors, we are going to try and fire it up tomorrow.

Pretty little project.. A little advice if you'd like some

Drop the oil, put in some fresh 30wt, one qt down the distributor hole after removing the distributor assembly to be sure the valve chamber gets oil. Be sure the oil filter is also changed first as well, and fill the new one with oil first, so you don't have to run the engine to fill the filter.. this will avoid starvation..

Next put about 1/8 cup down each cylinder via spark plug hole and crank over a few times by hand with a wrench or hand crank.. Not starter yet.. this will be sure all of the rotating assemblies are free and moving.

Put only water in the radiator for the start in case of a gasket leak, so watch for white steam..

Best advice i ever had was take your time and enjoy resurrecting the old girl

Thanks Dave,

Tonight we cranked it through a couple times by hand with Hiltons hyper-lube down the spark plug holes. Its been in a heated garage for the last couple decades and turned over by hand a couple times a year so we are hopeful it will light off.

Luke,

Doors, fenders, hood, headlights and a few boxes of parts

Its not mine, unfortunately this one has been brought out of hiding so the owner can try and sell it. It will still be a fun weekend, tinkering in the shop and fire it up.

Thanks for the information guys.

Fuel tank is laying in the pile. As it is the fuel line runs down the pass side frame rail. For the start up likely using a fuel jug.

Oiled her up good, turned her through a couple times by hand...

...after rigging a jug of gas, electric fuel pump, some hose, a couple alligator clips to a jump box.... lit her off in first couple cranks, the stromberg 97 didn't leak a drop (expected it to look like a lawn sprinkler), filled the radiator and let her warm up. I coaxed the clutch for the first lap and then ran her 4 miles ride up the road and back. Short shifting into 3rd got a squirrely 49mph in the snow before the interstate T. It was a cold and wet 27 degrees but I didn't know when/if I'd get the chance again to drive a snotty little 4 cylinder in a coupe shell. We got to the end of the frontage road and stopped to warm our hands back up the radiator while she happily idled sitting in the snow.

Damn If I could do the everyday... it doesn't pay very well but it was a heck of a lot of fun..

I got a few more segments of video but you get the idea.
It really is too bad he has to sell it

Sorry for the interruption, I think the link became corrupt for some reason. I've checked this one and it seems to work.
