Front spring bolts hitting oil pan
Doing some work on my 36 pickup, noticed the front spring ubolts are pushing against the front corner of the oil pan. The truck doesn’t have the original engine in it. Engine is from 52 Lincoln also has a three speed transmission. I know it is not original. If Iput new motor mounts I will get clearance again. This will be the third set of motor mounts in 25 years, is this normal. I just realized I stated Lincoln engine and this is incorrect it is a mercury engine, sorry

Re: Front spring bolts hitting oil pan
that lincoln engine is bigger and much heavier than the original 85. You might consider shimming between the engine mount and your biscuits.

Re: Front spring bolts hitting oil pan
I did one of those engines in a 32 chassis I built for a customer several years ago and I ordered a special heavy duty spring from Posie. Seemed to hold up the engine good. Also I did mount the engine a bit higher than normal.

Re: Front spring bolts hitting oil pan
It’s been said that the current reproduction rubber motor mount biscuits are of inferior quality and will settle a short time after installation. You might consider Googling “early Ford V8 motor mount biscuits”, there are some available made from urethane instead of rubber. The bolts are different but I would expect you can use your old hardware.
