1938 Deluxe Spare Wheel Clamp Device.

Is this the setup I need?

[/ATTACH]Have just aquired a 38 Deluxe Coupe and lloking for info or pics on securing device for spare wheel.
The spare wheel sits horizontal at aft end of trunk. There is a small right angled pivot piece which obviously requires more bits to secure spare wheel. This is new to me and dont have any idea what I need.
Appreciate any help with this one.

there is also supposed to be a plywood shelf over the spare..should be2 tabs on the fender well to bolt that side to..on the right side there was a wooden board or sometimes ametal piect to bolt the top to, if tabs on floor the piece would be wood. our 38 dlx coupe has wood

With the wooden shelf in place, the set up will make sense. You are missing the wooden shelf.

Have now woken up and checked in the 38/39 Book. It seems the clamping device for the 38 for the deluxe coupe is quite specific for the coupes only.

There is a special bolt to use with the clamp and lock, my 36 uses a similar hold down

The attached photo is from the EFV8 Club 37 REstoration book. It shows the spare tire hold down lock, bracket, bolt and nut. Hope this helps.
