A little off topic but interesting old bus.
Just read this article on our "Stuff" media site. Not a Ford but I suspect it is an International? Not familiar with this story but Alaskan Barner's probably are.

Re: A little off topic but interesting old bus.
They had to move the damn thing because too many folks were ending up like the kid the movie was made about (Into the Wild). It must be hell to want to see some place that someone died so bad that you end up just like they did.
Only real fools follow other fools to their own death. Most folks that live in or know about surviving in the wild generally bring enough gear to help them survive. |

Re: A little off topic but interesting old bus.
RalphM that is correct , the state of Alaska had spent countless man hours and money rescuing people who thought that they needed to trek out to this site. They left a small plaque at the location so those who still insist on going there will only find a simple monument .

Re: A little off topic but interesting old bus.
Alaska is too dangerous. They should ban all trekking, all thrill-seeking and any wandering around.
Keep the tourists in town then you don't have to spend the tourism dollars on search and rescues. ( ... virtual flyfishing right from the Motel 6.)

Or maybe this one? https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/...134226647.html 1941 Ford Bus, Marmon Herrington front wheel drive, 18inch tires, flathead engine, areo dynamic body, the grill is in the shape of a Bell, There were supposed to two of these made for the Ma Bell telephone co. we have heard this is the only one left. It was used for field work, soldiers could make calls home. Ran when parked over 25 years ago, It has lots of rust, but would be very cool restored. approx 25 ft. long and 6ft 8in wide, 8 ft high.

Looks quite unmolested. I love the shot of that well protected and preserved V8. Stu wants the wheels!
