Re: High Performance Muffler?
I have one from Aries on my pickup. Looks the same and sounds the same as far as I can tell. Supposed to be good for a few hp.
Also available in stainless - they do discolour pretty quick from what I've seen but that's not a problem for me |

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I asked my engine builder which one to buy, he said that either one would be sufficient. I opted for the standard steel one. We'll see how that goes when I get it installed.

Re: High Performance Muffler?
If and when I ever put my Thomas HC head on my roadster. I plan on installing a cut-out before a glass pack muffler. Loud exhaust always
makes you go faster. At least that is what I thought when riding straight pipe Harleys. In fact my PanHead still has open drag pipes! Bob-A |

Aries are plug and play. They fit and sound good. FYI Joe as many of you know moved to So. Oregon. He is right around the corner from my shop.

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I also have an Aries on my 30 Tudor. As metioned it looks and sounds like the original, but I have yet to see any added "pep" out of it.

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I've heard of the stainless cracking on the welds after some use. Never heard any problems out of the steel ones.

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I originally had a Beaver stainless steel muffler purchased many years ago, and replaced it with an Aries plain steel muffler because I didn't like the (to me) non Model A sound of the Beaver. The Aries sounds exactly the same!

Re: High Performance Muffler?
The Stainless mufflers essentially last forever. I run an Aries stainless in our 30 Roadster
After replaced the regular aluminized one on my 1990 Corsica every second year. I went to stainless about 18 years ago and now running the same exhaust since then through the cold winters, slush and all the salt they put on their roads. All our vehicles have stainless steel exhaust systems on them - that is the way to go For the Model A exhaust the cost difference between regular and stainless is minimum and the stainless will save money in the long run quickly |

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I suppose some one , somewhere, has taken an A exhaust manifold & split it (like so many have a 6 cyl in line) to have a true dual exhaust .
This thought will no doubt ruffle the feathers of some purists but I think having a totally stock A w/ dual exhaust would be pretty cool. For me , saving the complete original exhaust for a switch back would be the only way to go. Found one --https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duWGVLVaFC8 Last edited by 1Tudoor; 02-13-2016 at 10:59 AM. |

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I replaced an aftermarket with an Aries and shot a video - you can hear the difference in the before and after.
Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO6yV0ZUITo |

Re: High Performance Muffler?
I have an Aries basic version including the high temperature black paint. The first 100 miles driving my car, the paint began to burn off.
