Re: Memorial Day 2015
This photo is what Memorial Day truly means to me. I would love to be able to visit the Wall and reunite with friends with their names etched on the Wall.

I was able to visit the Wall just before I retired while getting treatment at Walter Reed. It was a moving experience like no other. Took a couple of hours finding the names of those I served with that never came home, to include some close classmates. There is no other monument in DC that captures that special feeling, the design is breathtaking. I don't look today as my day like so many do, we have Veterans Day for all of us that came back and continue living a life, Memorial Day is just that, to remember those who served and died while in uniform. I do remember them............. Ed US Army 65-85, Vietnam, Mar 1968-Mar 1969 |

Re: Memorial Day 2015
Spent the day at the cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands where my father and a distant cousin are buried. With a group whose fathers are also buried here. Plan to go to Henri-Chapelle and Normandy to visit graves of other distant cousins.

I went to two Memorial Day ceremonies with my 31 Pick up today. There was a fresh restored roadster pick up at the second one. I hope to see more of it. Navy 68-72

Vicky,
I was working for AFCEA when that stunning painting was first displayed at one of our International Conventions. It is such a thought provoking work. I hadn't seen it in years. Thanks for posting Last edited by Clem Clement; 05-28-2015 at 08:51 PM. |

Re: Memorial Day 2015
I just discovered this Memorial Day posting and I too participated in the holiday services. It is close to my heart as I lost several buddies in Europe in WW II and they are buried near where they fell.
