Default Ford Service Bulletin in heavy leather binder 1939 - 1949

Hiya!

My parents have a huge binder containing what looks like an almost complete, or at least extensive, set of Ford Service Bulletins (1939 - 1949).

They're curious if anyone thinks they're collectable. Can anyone help?

These are offered fairly frequently on eBay. Fairly complete sets sell in the $100(ish) range.

These people should realize, that is, per year. They have ten years worth.

Ten years in one binder. Still, about $100 or so.

Yes, these are quite collectible. I've sold several over the years. Value depends on quality and how complete. Yours appears to very nice and quite complete. Would think you could get $150 on ebay or at swap meet. The originals (yours) are full size as opposed to the reprint which are 1/2 the size. A very valuable restoration resource. Jim

I have that same book. My grandfather had a Ford dealership in the 40's and 50's and he gave it to me when he retired. I like to read Henry's quotes in it. Wouldn't sell it.

Thanks 4t8v8! Awesome advice and very genuine! Our copy is numbered 106.....it would be cool if yours is numbered around the same!

I appreciate your care of your Grandad's bulletin manual.

There were some updates up to maybe 1950...not much, I think just enough to get dealers oriented to the new engines.
Unlike the Model T--1937 Bulletins, each page in those was meant to be tossed and replaced by an updated one with the same number. My best set obviously came from a dealer who ignored those instructions...there are several dated versions of most hings, from 1938 into the early 8BA times. The reason the saved pages are good...not only did they update the new pages, they dropped info on stuff that was deemed utterly beyond continued interest. Things like the 3 types of Denver heads, for instance, long gone from the parts system and always obscure, but there are all the specs on them in a prewar sheet! That set is of course monstously fat and won't really close.
