Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
When I bought my 36 ford many years ago, both front and rear mats were quite worn out. They were both black. My sedan is a standard. Was the color different for deluxe and standards? I think my worn out mats were originals. Terry

Kube, Look at page 12 AND 60 in The 1935-36 Ford Book for more information about shift tower differences and hole placement.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
If you can find/buy a floor mat thats exact except the color, you can spray paint it with a vinyl paint. SEM makes one that is excellent. On my 32 Phaeton, I used #15033 Saddle Tan to paint the rear floor mat, which was black. I also painted the front mat to assure both matched. They make many different colors(request a color chart). SEM Color Coat.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
That’s the exact same I’ve used in the early 32-35 mats to match the taupe color. Both my 32 and 33 mats were painted with it.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I did just a while ago. I have read that entire book a number of times and retain a bit more each time.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
FYI to the original poster. Carpenter's reached back out to me to inform they see no point in producing a Taupe mat, as the Benton Gray mat is close in color and fits 35-36. I tried my best to inform them that a 36 mat does not fit in a 1935.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I know it is a different year, but are you able to get a front floor mat in black for a 1939 Deluxe Tudor sedan @35fordtn? Thanks.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
Thank you for trying.
I appreciate your keeping an ear open to help. It is business economics. If we as consumers keep asking our suppliers for the correct mat and they in turn keep on DC .....maybe they would see a demand that would warrant a production run.

I can understand why carpenter's does not produce the 35 Taupe mat as the demand is limited on Floor mats it seems these days. They are a great company that has continued to support this hobby in many ways for decades now, and one could never thank Dennis himself enough for all he has done for the hobby as a whole. |

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
Looking back over the decades that this has been my hobby, I cannot imagine it without the support that suppliers like Dennis, Bob Drake, Dick Spadaro (RIP), Mike McKennett, and the Atherton brothers, Jack and Lee (both RIP), to name but a few.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
LOL Jeff, I know he could personally use two in taupe for his deluxe models, but black will work great in his standard versions
PS.... great thread guys!!

Going a little sideways here... would a '36 mat fit a '35 coupe that's had a '39 trans installed?

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
As has been stated, you can get a black mat but I must ask why you would want to? Black is NOT correct for your '39.
