Flathead Camshaft Questions
Hey guys I have a couple of questions for you.
1. Will this Camshaft work in my engine? 2. What do I need to use this Distributor on my engine? The block that I have is a 59AB that has the reliefs in the block around the valves. The cam is a regrind with .385 lift. I believe it was a later 8BA 49-53 cam that was converted to the earlier style. The heads that I have are the new block letter heads from Edelbrock. I have both a 2 bolt and 3 bolt front timing cover. The distributor is a 3 bolt 37-41 Mallory. Thanks IMG_5198.jpgIMG_5199.jpgIMG_5200.jpgIMG_5201.jpgIMG_5202.jpg |

Re: Flathead Camshaft Questions
From what I can see, you'll need a stubby adaptor on the dizzy end of the cam. You have a short nose cam 21A type and the three bolt ignitions used a long nose (earlier upto 1941) cam.
I spec you can get them from the usual vendors. Any more info on that cam? Have a good Look around the outside rim of the part the timing gear, sometimes info stamped there. Martinq |

Re: Flathead Camshaft Questions
O think you'd be better off with a 11A distributor than the mallory. Bubba can convert it to electronoc and the afvance curve would be better for your engine.
