Oil Pan Issue
As to not hijack the 'Oil Pan Leak' thread...
I searched "oil pan drain" and "oil pan removal" and got 2 threads on each search related to my question, but not completely answering my questions. When I replaced the oil drain plug after the last oil change - the insert the plug threads into started to spin. So - my questions: 1) Do all 'A' oil pans have this insert the plug threads into, or was this a previous repair? 2) Does the oil pan have to be removed to stop the insert from spinning? -- If yes - any tips to make pan removal and replacement go well? Specifically with the 4 piece cork gasket... 3) Best method to permanently stop the insert from spinning either with pan in place or removed? Thanks in advance

Re: Oil Pan Issue
I clean the area of the oil pan at the oil plug, then weld the outer ring then repaint the oil pan.

Re: Oil Pan Issue
I think the right way to fix it is to remove the pan, clean it completely, then braze the threaded insert on the inside. You can probably get by with cleaning the outside and soldering or brazing the insert on the outside. I've seen it fixed both ways. All pans have the threaded insert.
