39 mercury towbar /hitch

looking for drawings -plans-photos of a tow hitch for a 39 mercury can anyone help Thanks

The basic one that I have uses angle iron that is shaped into a Y.
You will need to remove the front bumper and bumper brackets as there are are 2 steel plates that mount to the frame where the bumper brackets were removed. You can use the bumper bracket bolts. Then the tow bar attaches to the steel plates.
I use C-clamps to attach temporary tail lights to the rear bumper brackets and run the wires to the tow vehicle. You must have the steering lock in the on (unlocked) position so that the front wheels track while being pulled.
I hope you get the explanation of this.
It was made by a friend and it worked for me over the years as long as the bumpers were on brackets.

My 37 had steel channel running for and aft with a welded plate to bolt to the spring u bolts and a piece of flat bar running across between the inner bumper bolts welded to the channel with a tab.
This was to get the height correct for it to pass through under the bumper to the rear of the car, a tow ball was bolted directly to the protruding channel.
It was obviously not professionally made as the finished result was not very elegant
I would do a far neater job if was make myself one, but when I do get the car running again I do not plan to do any towing.
