Re: To cold to be in garage
Seems like the cold is triggering a lot of check engine lights.I've had a few people with that problem, but the guys that work on modern cars daily said they have been swamped with customers with check engine lights on.

Re: To cold to be in garage
My cousin is an Ironworker in Arizona and he told me he'd been nailed twice by scorpions. Both times they climbed up his pants leg and got him in the upper thigh. He always wondered why he didn't feel them when they were lower on his pants. I wondered that too!

Re: To cold to be in garage
Up here in the Northland when it gets to be about 0º F oil gets as thick as ketchup trying to get out of the bottle. The six volt battery in the Model A cranks the motor REALLY slow and makes a noise like "nnnooooooo" before it quits. And if your choke doesn't work you might as well go back into the house. But there are some nice things that happen too. Like at about 5º F the frozen snow squeaks under your feet as you walk out to the shop. Kinda cool. The air you breathe is so clear and clean, the sun shining on the snow is so bright it just makes you forget everything else. But you have to take care.
As your body cools down it protects itself by pulling the warm blood circulation into the body core and slowing it down in the extremities. Your ears, nose, cheeks, hands and feet get colder. If you rub those parts to get them warm again the circulation improves. I was living in Bemidji years ago and one winter evening I was out by the barn splitting oak firewood. Bare hands and jacket open, but not cold at all. There was no wind, the sky was clear and the Milky Way was in full sight plus there were Northern Lights coming up from all sides that met in a dark ring at the top. Beautiful. Peaceful. At about 11:00 pm I decided to go in and looked up at the thermometer on the barn wall. It was -20º. I had to look twice to be sure. I couldn't believe that the body could be conditioned to be comfortable at that temp but it is absolutely true! Since then I don't let the cold temps stop me from doing things. If we did that in Minnesota or Canada we would never get anything done in the winter. We might as well head south. Maybe Iowa, eh? |
