Flathead Plug wire looms, HotRod
Hello, I am ready to buy some wire looms for my Flathead . I want the stainless kind that run in the stock location with individual tubes . I am looking for pics of them installed from certain manufacturers like Drake , or Speedway , Flathead Jacks etc . They seem to vary in price from $70 to $120 , whats the difference ? Quality maybe ?? Just looking for info before I buy .
Thanks for any help , Mike |

Re: Flathead Plug wire looms, HotRod
Before you purchase any wire loom tubes you need to measure the diameter of your plug wires and then ask the vendor the inside diameter of the wire loom tube.

Re: Flathead Plug wire looms, HotRod
In my experience (I’ve got them on two Flatheads), most of the after market "hot rod" looms are set up for 7mm wires. It's a good idea to use a little silicone spray to feed the wires through the looms.

Re: Flathead Plug wire looms, HotRod
Something that most people are not aware of is, individual plug wire looms will
cut the current at the plug by about 4 milliamps due to capacitive leakage. This won't usually be noticed if the ignition is in good condition. If you use looms with a hot aftermarket ignition, you will usually see glow (corona) around the ends of the looms in the dark and that's not good. |

I've got chromed stock looms too.
An old pic now, but the looms remain. |

Re: Flathead Plug wire looms, HotRod
Be careful of the looms cutting into the plug wires . It happened to me and caused problems

Re: Flathead Plug wire looms, HotRod
I got the ones from Flathead Jack for an 8BA style manifold and they no how, no way will fit. As usual, it seems most stuff I try to store buy wont fit. So I fabricated mine from 3/8" steel tubing and had them chrome plated.
