Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
I stopped there after the Marquette convention and they were on schedule to complete the building in September. The grand opening is in May 2013.
It's going to be fantastic. The Gilmore complex, where our Model A museum is located is one fine destination and moving fast. Richard Anaheim CA Last edited by Richard in Anaheim CA; 08-13-2012 at 12:09 AM. Reason: Spelling |

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
Pluck, John LaVoy posted this earlier this year.
"A good time to experience Model A day is a visit to the Model A Museum in The Gilmore located at Hickory Corners, MI. September 15th is the dedication of the museum building and we need Model A folks to come and see the completion of the building. Of course it also means the start of preparing the exhibits etc. The Grand Opening is scheduled for May 18th 2013. So plan your Model A day and come see the building the Model A hobby built to honor the Model A Ford. The links below are from the maffi.org site. If you want to see webcam pictures of the construction since the beginning, click here If you want to see on the ground pictures, click here

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
The sept 15 date is the only time they will allow you to drive your A inside, stop have a picture taken and drive back out. This is before they put in the displays. Neat idea...

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
So what is going to be in the museum? Will there be cars? Like one of every body or something?

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
There will not be one of every body style, but a representation of the evolution of the Model A, along with some very special body types like a school bus and service vehicle. Best way to find out is visit the museum! May 18th 2013 is the grand opening!

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
Was at the Gillmore on Saturday and the Model A portion is still under construction. What a bummer! The staff said was to be complete in about 30 days. There is still a lot of work to be completed. Glad it is not in AZ as would be much longer than what builder would give you. The rest of the museum is impressive and will be a great place to visit. There are vehicles there that you only read about and some that I had never heard of or knew of their existance.

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
There is word that Aldie Johnson has donated his mail truck, and the Postal A archives are to go to Jim McPherson, (new museum curator?).

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
Will the front of the museum have the ledgendary FORD MOTOR COMPANY (in its ledgendary script) on the front of the building, as we see on many of the old assembly plants, on its center peak?

Re: Gilmore Model A/AA Museum...
Thought about going out in the "A" if I could get it running, but wouldn't want to be the first to leave a puddle of oil from the rear main...
