I also use the 3039 filter. I've had my car almost a year now. One of the first problems I had was rust in the float bowl clogging up the carb. Since instaling the filter the float bowl has stayed clean. They cost under 10 and don't look out of place like a plastic in line.
The plastic one also create a fire danger in my opinion but that's a different discussion. And always use cork gaskets for fuel rubber will just fall apart and leak. |

I installed that filter yesterday. I originally had a rubber gasket in there and it was pretty soft. I had the bowl tightened quite a bit to keep it from seeping. I could not find a cork gasket so I bought a sheet of material and cut one out. It sealed with just a snugging of the nut. Definitely recommend the cork.
