Pickup box ID and part needed?
Say I am working on a 31 pickup and set the box on the frame and noticed how low it sits and from looking at some photos it looks like I am missing a Z type metal piece on each side that sits between the frame and box (continuous along each side) what is this part called. Next I searched box identification and there seems to be no agreement on what entails a 31 box, mine has a stake pocket approx. 7 inches in from the front end not in the corner? Thanks

If it is even Ford,it sounds like you have a T box.The stake pockets were set back because the soft top leaned back.If you put a stake in the box it would just barely clear the top on the T.Lots of things were done this way years ago.If you had a good solid box available, and you needed one,you used it.

Like Keith said sounds like a T box. The front panel may
have an opening on the left side for the T battery. Bob |

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/t.../#post-4145091 Note the different Z shaped flange at the bottom margin of the bed. Wouldn't surprise that the wooden underbody is different too. Joe K
