Default 36 Pickup break-in

Still out enjoying my new pickup and getting used to my shifting. Put quite a few miles on it this week but have a few things to work out. The old truck sure gets a lot of attention. The front end has been rebuilt with the exception of the steering box. The truck drives well but has some play in the box. I noticed you can get a rebuild kit for the original steering box. I did get a used steering box with the truck and was thinking about rebuilding that unit. Are these usually good to rebuild or is there a better replacement steering box ? I'd rather rebuild the original unit, if possible.

Will a 41-48 steering box work on the 36, if the steering shaft is changed ?

After reading more posts on the steering boxes and with the needle bearings of the 36 steering box, looks like it would be better to get a 37 mounting bracket and find a 37 or later steering box. I've found rebuild kits available or I see where Lares will rebuild an old box.
