Anyone have a battery cap?
Hey folks! Very much a newbie here. I have a '29 Tudor with a Napa Commercial 7244 battery with a missing cap. I am trouble finding anyone who carries a replacement cap. Anyone have an idea of where I could find one? Thanks!

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
I have several old batteries laying about but distance would make me sending you one unfeasable. A photo would help others wanting to help.

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
Find a NAPA or other user friendly parts store. Usually they have a half ton of trade-in batteries to browse for caps.
Also most scrap metal places take batteries..... Good luck

Go to a junkyard that recycles old batteries. They should have lots!!

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
So long as they fit, just find 3 the same from some other battery and screw them in. Done!

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
I used a large rubber stopper from the local hardware store for years on my 6 volt battery. I even used a very small diameter plastic tube (from a carb cleaner spray can) for venting. A small V shaped cut on the side of the rubber stopper was added for the vent tube.

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
Six and eight volt batteries use larger caps than the common twelve volt battery and always have as best as I remember . Good luck finding a cap or caps .

Can you post a picture with a ruler nearby, is it push on or screw on--- if screw on is it 1/4 turn or threads--- pictures of cap and battery

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
Looks like it is 1.25" in diameter at the top. It is a push-on, and the opening is 3/4". Any ideas would be awesome!
I can't get the pictures to load from a dropbox link. Last edited by zaugger; 09-25-2019 at 08:39 PM. Reason: Pictures not showing up. |

Re: Anyone have a battery cap?
I have an old battery in my garage. I can look at the caps and put a couple in the mail to you if I have your address.
