Default Lug nuts from Third Gen Auto

Has anyone bought lug nuts from them for 48 ford car. I can't seem to get hold of them. Do the threads start in a ways on the nuts or start at edge ? Thanks
Steve

I’ve bought some for my ‘41 at my local NAPA.

Yes, NAPA would be a good source.

Take an old one for a sample to Napa. These new counter guys don't have a clue when you ask for lug nuts for a '48 Ford.

I like the ones that have the threads recessed a little. Makes them a little easier to start.

most Ford lug nuts right from the early days were 1/2 fine thread. I have a s**t load of these. Should be able to get them any where.

I buy them at the local trailer supply. They have 5 gallon buckets full of 1/2-20 lug nuts

The lug nuts from third gen work fine. They are recessed like the original, but still require a bit more trial and error before the threads catch. Using a thread chasers on the nuts and studs speeds up the process.

Nuts that are threaded all the way thru will sometimes bottom out on the stud before the wheel is tight. I've run into that with cheap aftermarket stuff, its something to keep an eye on when mounting wheels.

The Ford nuts have a 13/16" hex, 1/2-20 thread and a 60º cone. There are lots of nuts around that don't have the hex size or cone angle right.
