Re: 8ba oil pan
Best luck would be used I would think. Have you checked ebay? Should be a lot more good oil pans than good blocks!

Re: 8ba oil pan
Truck pan with a clean out or a car pan? I've got a couple of each but I'm in SoCal so shipping might be a deal killer. If you can't find one closer to home PM me if you're interested. I'm going to take them to the swap meet in Sacramento on the 16th of this month but I doubt I'll sell them all.

Re: 8ba oil pan
Be aware that there are several types of oil pans that fit this block. The truck type with rear sump was mentioned. The Ford car type has a center sump pan style, and the Mercury cars have a rear sump type that is shorter than the pick up type. There are other ones in the later 50s cars/pickups but they aren't too much different with exception to the long sump 53 pickup type. It depends on what you want the motor to fit into as to the choice you make.

Re: 8ba oil pan
Also, try "Shoebox Central". I've gotten a lot of oddball used parts from them.

Re: 8ba oil pan
I have a flathead pan, but I believe it is a Merc and a little different than a Ford. Dipstick tube is good but there is a tiny hole in the bottom that needs to be welded up. It's a later flathead (49-53) pan.
25.00 plus shipping. I'm in NJ. Can send a picture if interested.

Re: 8ba oil pan
Truck pan might be the way to go then, and the added feature of the large clean out is a plus!
