Default POWERGEN generators?

Has anyone purchased a generator from this company? They have a 6 volt and a 12 volt that looks like a Model A generator for $350. powermasterperformance.com is their website, found the ad in Hemmings.

I have a Powergen 6 v alternator. I like it very much. It may have a tick it it when running that I need to identify. I have probably put 400 miles or more on it since I got it a few months ago.

I have the 12 volt version, works well. My pickup was already converted to 12 volts when I bought it, and it had an alternator fitted which I didn't like. The Powergen looks more period correct than the one that was fitted, although I am sure it wouldn't please the purists, I am happy with it.

Hey John, I checked out the link but couldn't find a price. Also, how do you go from making rollers used in the production of disposable diapers and feminine care to alternators???

I'm interested in this product too. I sent an E-mail to the site asking for pricing but haven't heard anything yet.

Marty and goldheart, the owner of that company is a long time Ford guy. The generators are a sideline that he's has done for years. Give them a call and ask for Tom. He handles the alternators. The one I bought for a V8 recently was around $400.

Russ Evans in Simi Valley, California makes an alternator that looks exactly like the Model A generator, cutout included. It's a 45 amp, 6 volt, positive ground unit that will pass fine point judging. It cost about $385.00 (one year ago). Russ stands 100% behind his alternators and will replace any defective units without question. He is a Model A guy and will build the unit for your car, just supply him with your month/year build date and he will make up one exactly as needed for your car. He doesn't have a web site or email, but he can be reached by phone at (805) 583-4221. He also makes a 12 volt, negative ground unit. I bought mine from Russ because I felt better about giving my money to him verse a big corporation.

New number for Russ Evans: (805) 428-2564

Hey, Guys,
Thanks for the pictures and thanks Al for the info on Russ Evans. I'll do a little research and make my decision.

I am interested in this powergen thing. how about a pic of one installed for a late V8? I have a 49 F-1 with a 52 ford car engine in it, and would like to keep the looks of the old V8, I don't really like the alternator look. my current generator will keep me on the road during the day but drains the battery if I have to use head lights, and I risk not being able to restart if I turn the truck off at night. the old truck has been updated to 12V.
thank you in advance.

We reviewed this last year when they showed it at SEMA. Very well made product, they do not make one that looks like a Powerhouse! But this is a way to go if you want the alternator with the look of a generator. This is not a small alternator, 60 amp 6 volt and 95 at 12 volt if I remember correctly.

Find a generator shop that knows how to work on generators instead of just replacing parts. Your generator should work fine.
