Default Up 844

Just thought I would mention, I woke to the sound of the 844 heading East yesterday am. I have not looked at its schedule, but if you are close get your A out and get some pic's of the A with the 844. Glad to see it back in usable condition again. I also wonder how repairs on the Challanger are going, as it has not been out for 3 years. Rod

Looks like some wonderful opportunities for the Central Plains and Mississippi River Valley.

Rod and Mike, I had no idea what you guys were talking about until I looked it up on Google. They have some 2 to 3 minute clips from a vehicle paralleling the Union Pacific 844. Pretty awesome.

Several years back I was diving through Townsend, MT and noticed vehicles parked along the tracks every so often. The folks at the gas station said that a steam locomotive was going to go by. I thought that was nice but due to a need to get to Helena on time I drove on. I truly missed out.

I get to see them from my frontyard every year. I live too close to the tracks, so I normally keep track of their schedule so I can get pics from time to time. The Challanger broke down just outside of town in 2007 and to the best of my understanding it has been repaired although it has not made more than small jonts outside of Cheyene. Pic below of the Challager in 2004.

The 844 blew the steam tubes in 1998 and was 7+ years in repair. It looks like the smoke deflectors were bent up somewhere in the proccess as they could now use some work IMHO. Will try to get pic's on its way back through in a couple of weeks. Rod
