Default Source for voltage regulator for '57 T Bird

Replaced regulator with new Americian made one last September and it died yesterday. This is about the 3rd one in as many years. Any suggestions for a good one or is there and electronic replacement available?

This seems to be pointing to another problem that's destroying the VR. I wish I was more experienced in charging systems to help.
Perhaps a known good used VR. I've never had to replace the one in my '56 Tbird.

A lot of the new restoration stuff is crap. If you have an old time automotive electrical shop near you, take an old original VR in and have them check it out. If you have a possible generator problem, you may need to think about taking it in too. If the car has an electrical system with deteriorated wiring or insulation, there can be intermittent shorts which can damage both the voltage regulator and the generator. Make certain your whole electrical system is up to snuff.

slumlord44,
Here's a 'borrowed' post to check out the long list of things that can cause voltage regulator damage.
At first glance I prefer the first link in the post... sort of a long read but VERY informative.
Among other things;
the ground connections between the block, body & battery can easily be overlooked, in a '57 Bird

The generator was recently rebuilt by an old time rebuilder and checked again when I had regularot problems. Still looking for a better one or an electronic replacement.

Any VR I have ever seen has had a ground strap close to where it mounts, worth a look anyway. Usually to the radiator wall from one of the VR screw holes.
