Try twisting and pulling. Some can be stuck pretty tight.

Re: cam and oil pump question on a 8ba
Use some of the 50-50 mix as well, this stuff really works.

Re: cam and oil pump question on a 8ba
I'd take the idler gear out to make cleaning easier. There's a tapped hole in the stub shaft it rotates on. Attach a slide hammer to the pin and knock it out. Very simple. JMHO. Good luck.

Re: cam and oil pump question on a 8ba
Aw, man, is that all you were talking about? I was hoping the formula somehow involved wild animal urine as the secret ingredient....What a disappointment.

Re: cam and oil pump question on a 8ba
Don't forget to remove the oil galley plug in the front behind the timing gear. It's a good idea to use a long narrow brush (ie rifle barrel brush) to clean out the tube. DO NOT FORGET to replace the plug on the rebuild.

Re: cam and oil pump question on a 8ba
The only way to properly clean this passage is to remove the fuel pump pushrod bushing so you can get a clear shot through the tube.
