Re: My "B" Block needs a bit of work.
Good question! It also raises the question of the need for cam grinding as not all pistons made for the Model A were cam ground. I have a couple sets of replacement pistons bearing the Ford imprint that are round in all skirt dimensions so not cam ground. It would seem that the piston is either designed for final cam shape or not.

The old guys use to talk about rasping down oversize pistons . They allways said that it would last a long time . I wish I had asked more questions , they all seem to be dead now.

Re: My "B" Block needs a bit of work.
Round pistons can be used, just give them lots of clearance and be ready for noise until they warm up and expand. We used to race them, allowing .010"- .012" to expand. With some patience you could probably off-set them in a lathe and machine a little off the pin areas.

I am not looking to go racing. Just trying to make this block usable again in a driver. .4.030 sounds like something good for boiling water.
