Real Wheel Noise?
1930 roadster I recently installed new bonded brake shoes and cast iron drums. I bought the drums and shoes from Randy Gross in So. Cal. Randy fits the shoes to the drums.
In our area there are a lot of round a bouts at intersections. As I am driving in the round a bout turning to the left, I hear what sounds like the brake lining rubbing, or possibly the drum rubbing on the backing plate,? The emergency brake band was not replaced. I have no issues with the other drums. I pulled the drum yesterday and everything looks ok and I believe I got the shoes centered. Thoughts? Re: Real Wheel Noise?
Just went through the same thing. My right rear drum was barely rubbing on the backing plate during left turns. The rubbing left slight witness marks on the backing plate. I added an axle shim and gained enough space to cure the problem. Hopefully yours will be an easy fix solution.

Re: Real Wheel Noise?
If its only rubbing in a turn, don't worry about it.

Re: Real Wheel Noise?
Nellson,
maybe that the wheel bearing have loose play and the drum may wobble.

Adding a shim does nothing to fix the cause of the problem.
