Bell housing numbers
Friend has a 8ba engine in shop.wants to know what the numbers mean..
K2784. on the bell housing. ,he thinks maybe a 49

Those numbers have little meaning. The '49-'51 Ford car bells are all the same, stamped steel with an angled starter plate. A picture would help.

This number is on the block ,,which would be the bell housing on the early engines!!!!

Many of the 8BA family of blocks have a date code stamped on the intake deck aft passenger side on a LHD vehicle. There is a break down of the code meaning on other cylinder block ID threads on this forum. Casting numbers on the block itself have no known meaning to us laymen. FoMoCo likely knew their meaning back in the day.
