Default Need help I.D. Luggage box

I found this luggage box and wondering if anyone could help id.ing the maker, era, and possible models of cars that this might have been used on. It measurements are 36 x 14 x 20 inches. It is covered with a type of topping material and has a gold leaf/ painted pin stripe around the front. Most of the hinges and hinges look like they were chrome at one time. The front of the box and lid are made to slide open and expands 7 to 8 inches or any where in between. It has a locking screw that can be set for what ever desired length you might want. Interesting box and someone has spent a lot of time and engineering to make it all work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

Neat looking trunk, but unfortunately not for a Ford or Lincoln, at least in terms of those released by Ford.

Thanks for your input. I was pretty sure it wasn't Ford, but I needed to start some where and this forum has some of the most knowable people around. Thanks again

You might consider strapping it to the rear end of that old wreck of a car visible in some of your pictures.

Some of these luggage trunks were aftermarket accessories, not specific to any make and model, designed to use with the fold-down trunk racks on many '20s and early '30s cars.
