Babbitting in Chicago area???
I find myself in need of someone to help me out with a 1935 engine I'm building for a customer. I have not built a 21 stud engine in YEARS!!! LOL Is there anyone in the Chicago area that does babbitt work on these?
Any other helpful information would be much appreciated Thanks Ford Barn!!!! |

Re: Babbitting in Chicago area???
Check ln Hemmings Motor News. There used to be several listed under Services. I had a shop in Strasburg, PA do the Babbitt in my '35 engine. Probably too far for you to consider.

Re: Babbitting in Chicago area???
Call Bill Holterman at Built Rite Engines in Lombard. His pop George does a lot of old flathead and hot rod stuff and although I don't think Bill does the babbitting I'm sure he can put you in touch with someone who does.
630-629-4021. He usually has a table set up at the Gears & Ears show put on by the Midwest Street Rods, but that's not til summer....just mention it so you know he's into old stuff, not just late model. If it works out well for you, tell him Mustang Scott sent you. If it doesn't work out well tell him you got his name from the phone book LOL

Re: Babbitting in Chicago area???
I was going to say Antique Engine Rebuilders. Doesn't he always have a booth at the Kane County swap meet? I'm sure he was there last year. I didn't make it there yesterday.
