Default tack rail top fasteners

Some of the CINCH fittings are loose in the tack rail around the back of the seat in my '29 roadster. I suspect a split or rotten tack rail and wonder how difficult it is to replace this wood ? Or, is there an easy repair process ? The CINCH fittings have to match the rear top flap fittings so it is not an option to move them to one side a bit. Thanks for your thoughts.
