Default what fuel regulator for electric fuel pump

I have an auxiliary electric fuel pump to prime the carb or if the mechanical one fails. I have it on a switch so I only turn it one when needed. What is a good fuel pressure regulator to put in line?

What car and engine do you have ? What brand of fuel pump do you have ? What pressure does it pump ? You may not need a pressure regulator. More details please if you want a correct answer. We are not mind readers you know. Regards, Kevin.

Holley. Here: http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_me...-npt-ford.html

Here's how I plumbed mine in the frame rail just ahead of the electric fuel pump.

Facet makes pumps that are self regulating. I have one in my roadster that is 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lbs. There are many pressure ranges.I have not tried it yet.

In another car I have a Carter rotary pump with the Holley low pressure regulator mentioned and it works fine. Had it several years.

The Holley number is 12-804, around $29 - $30. 1 to 4 psi.

Depends on what you are running. I use an Airtex low pressure (1-4 psi) electric fuel pump as a back up. My Holley 94 can handle it without the need of a regulator. On the other hand, I have heard that the Stromberg Carbs are a bit more sensitive. Steve

I use a separate pressure regulator along with the Airtex pumps. Some may consider It a redundant part of the fuel delivery system however, it insures the correct pressure setting. I also convert the OEM mechanical pumps to 'pass through' to prevent any fuel leakage into the crankcase...

I'll second the Facet pump. I've had very good luck with them.

How much PSI does a properly set-up and working stock pump put out?

This is how I did it with Facet pump and Holley type regulator, the location makes it very easy to adjust.

What was not said about the Facet pump is that is made in USA in Elmira NY by Purolater. They come in 12V & 6V, and various pressure ranges. They are solid state, self regulating, no need for a separate regulator. Used in experimental aircraft, sold by Aircrafctt & Spruce, about $30. The tech reps at Purolater in NY are great people to work with if you have questions. Have a lower pressure one for the flathead in the roadster to backup the mechanical. On a toggle switch with a pilot light on the dash, so I can see when it's on.

It's actually for a 1935 Chrysler Airflow, but I figured it would be similar to my stock 1937 Ford as far as carb and pressure.
I'm using a Carter P4070 pump. Its says it has 4-6 psi Output. My float needle doesn't hold back the pressure and it floods.

I don't see 6v listed just 12&24v
Looks like a good product.

Is the Facet pump a pull through, so you can use the mechanical one most of the time and use the Facet for start up and vapor lock?

I have the Facet pump at the tank in the back of the roadster, with a filter between it and the mechanical flathead fuel pump. In this scenario it is pushing through the mechanical. I use it only for start up, and a possible short term backup in event of mechanical pump failure. Remember, if the mechanical pump fails, it is the diaphragm that fails, and could mean gas getting pumped in to your crank case.

I use an Offenhauser regulator. Available at Autozone or Advance auto. About $30

I have had the Facet pumps on 2 vehicles for years. Never a minutes problem. They both produce 2 1/2# pressure. I have a bypass switch on them to pressurize the carbs if the vehicle sits for a long period of time. Be sure to install an automatic cut off switch should the engine quit for safety reasons. I use an oil pressure switch.

Just as a note of interest, the plant in Elmira, NY where the Facet pump is made, was also the Stomberg carburetor plant back in the day. It was bought out by Bendix, then spun off by Bendix as Facet Enterprises in 1975, then bought by Purolator.
The same is true for the old Zenith Carburetor Co. in Detroit. Zenith in Detroit moved to Abingdon, VA in late 1984 and is still there today. Now called Zenith Fuel Systems.

Not to steal this thread or anything, but what is the recommended GPH for a stock carburetor and what would it be for a dual carb setup? I am only asking this because the list for the facet pumps have different flowrates in relation to the pipe size and the pressure rating.

Facet does not make a 6 volt pump.

I believe they did a few years back, but discontinued them. There may be a few still floating around, but you are not going to be able to just order one.

I didn't say they made a 6V pump. russcc said that.
