Yeah but they only eat once every two weeks, Let me see, that's twenty six a year. I can kill that many in a night with my .22, and it's fun too.

I'm in NY, and if you get caught killing them you'll be in trouble. DEC stopped us looking in a stream asking" what are we looking at?". Answered"crawfish".He explained about somebody disturbing the rattlers, left me surprised. Be careful!

No such laws here. Not even sure who the DEC is. We don't kill bull snakes here as they kill rattle snakes, but no weird laws about it. Rod

We don't have rattlers in my part of Minnesota but they have them in SE Minn. I looked up snake repellents on the internet and one site said that napthalene and sulphur works. Their theory was that the snakes navagation depends on their smell and the repellent makes them confused and lost and they panic and leave. Moth balls contain the same ingredients. I use them around my place to get rid of garden snakes and it works. Early in the year I mow over 5-6 of them before I get out the moth balls and then I don't see any more. The moth balls also get rid of the mice so I don't need no stinkin' snakes!
