1932 Gas Tank Minimum Level
I am driving my 32 coupe to use up gasoline that is 13 months old that was treated with Stabil. Seems to run fine. Before I add new gas I want to get rid of as much of the old gas as possible. How low can I allow the gas in the tank get without running out of gas. I am using a stick in the tank. Thanks for your help. Ed

Re: 1932 Gas Tank Minimum Level
When in doubt, empty the tank using the drain in the bottom of the tank and dispose of the old gasoline properly. That likely beats running out of gas by driving or relying on the accuracy of a stick measurement.

+1 on that thought, I siphoned my cheap gas out of my car before winter and now use ethanol free fuel.

Re: 1932 Gas Tank Minimum Level
I think I would take the opposite approach and mix what is in there with fresh fuel. I agree draining the tank would be the best, but if you are going to drive it, I would dilute it.

My spelling is so bad the spell checker can't even guess what word I am trying to use. |

Re: 1932 Gas Tank Minimum Level
I drained my tank to coat it with a coating kit. I cut a 15 gal. plastic drum down where I could slide it under the tank, and drained it. The gas looked like someone had thrown up in it. The tank had already been coated and it was coming off in chunks. Replaced with new tank and fuel lines. Al

Re: 1932 Gas Tank Minimum Level
If the fuel is burning fine, why dispose of it? I'd do as other have suggested. Fill it and run.

Same with me, never could spell and as said sometimes spell checker doesn't know what I am trying to spell so I just delete what I was trying to say and just say it another way.

Re: 1932 Gas Tank Minimum Level
I am with the "if it runs fine, use it" crowd. Only I would not immediately fill with new gas, just one gallon... use that up... repeat two or three times. Put a fresh disposable inline filter in though, if that cruds up quickly then go with draining and cleaning the tank.
