Default Cracked rear motor mount

Hey guys one of my rear motor mounts is cracked and I'm just wondering if people fix them with a weld or if it's better to find a good original replacement.

No Float a motor for me!

Is the casting cracked on the fly wheel housing or are you talking about the metal part that bolts between the frame and the fly wheel housing?

Ether piece can be welded. The fly wheel housing would have to be brazed. I do not know the difference between a tack or a weld. Somebody is an expert on welding will probably answer. I think I have seen the sheetmetal part with a slit in them.

Do not get me started on the stupidity of ethanol. I think one of the monitors is from Iowa and he will delete the thread.

Mine was cracked like that and I had a buddy tig it for me. Grind a V into the crack and weld it up. It will be stronger than original if done correctly.

Aside from the long crack at the brake or bend, you have a second crack radiating from the lower bolt hole. This was likely the result of the rear motor mount bolts being loose. I would look my flywheel housing over very closely for cracks also, especially around all of the bolt hole locations.

If you don't have a perfect spare handy, then just weld it and have no worry. The car will probably never see the same conditions that caused the crack in the first place.

Just weld it up and forget about it. Inside and outside, grind the outside weld flush.
