Default A' & B' carbs; I need a part!

Since I know the difference between an A & B carb, I am not asking for an opinion, just some direction. I have a B' carb and it needs a rebuild; the new rebuild kits do not have the needle & seat included... Macs' Brattons & Snyders no longer carry the B' needle & seat, even though they were listed in their catalogs. I have not been able to locate anyone with the correct B' type needle & seat can anyone tell me the differences between the size or length of an A' versus a B' - could an A' be installed but somehow shimmed or changed to fit in a B' carb? Does anyone have any suggestions.... Thanks

Bert's list a B carb kit on page 51 of their current catalog. You might contact them to see if it contains the part you need.

Try Renner's Corner, rennerscorner.com, (734) 428-8424, for the parts.

I've heard you should run a larger float valve in a "B" carb if running it on an "A" due ot the fuel supply being gravity fed. Not sure how true this is or how you can get a larger valve. I need one for my B carb that I plan to run on my A one day so maybe I'd better start looking.

Hello Steve,
Berts in Denver have the float valve for the B carb, A-9564-b, however it is the ball type valve, I will never use another one due to sticking shut, call David at Renners Corner for a steel pin original type float valve, he has some used valves.

Thanks for the info. That means I would have to enlarge the orifice to 2.7mm or .106 in.
I am curious about the leaking ball type valve. Have others had issues?

You can enlarge the valve bore to increase to the #54 size.

The original Ford / Zenith carburetor jet number found stamped on the jet is the jet orifice size as expressed in 0.05 mm increments. For example, a jet marked number '18' has an orifice diameter of (18)*(0.05) = 0.9 mm = 0.035 inch.

I never heard this before. It makes sense, however ,I've been running a B on my .125" over Winfield su1,police head for years, with no problems.only removed the baffle. ? Maybe I could squeeze 5 more miles an hour top end, not that I'd want it.?
