Default Holley 8HA carb leak

After getting the little V8-60 purring with a Holley 8HA 1-barrel carb it has started leaking at the top of the float bowl gasket. I overhauled the carb and know how to do it.

I'm thinking the float may be set too high. It uses a rebuilt, stock fuel pump. I think the surfaces are flat but want a starting point before I take it down again. Thanks.

The fuel is not supposed to be that high. fix the float or needle valve and it will stop leaking .

(From there at least.)

Mart.

I would lower the float leval to 1 7/16 just like i use on the "V8",s and the top must be perfectly flat. They tend to lift up on the sides. Hold up to a light with no gasket and see if theres a gap between the top and middle sections. They can be straightened on a machined flat surface with a little hammer work and heat from a propane torch. ken ct. Its a big problem with these 6 cyl. carbs. I also use steel inlet needles no rubber tipped ones.

Did you make that adapter for that carb on a 60? That's pretty cool. Walt

It's a cast bronze adaptor. The engine is powering a Hobart welder and I guess it needed steady power instead of a lot of it.
